Species NOT found in our area
Images taken with a mobile phone
Photos must have been taken during 2026 in the Somerset & Bristol area
(except for the last two categories which can be anywhere in the world, but still in 2026)
Entries
The Members' Day photo competition is open to all Somerset & Bristol BC branch members.
You can submit 1 photo per category (taken in 2026).
The five categories are: Butterflies, Moths, Immature stages, Out of Area/Overseas and Images taken on a mobile phone.
All entries should be submitted by email by Friday 23rd October 2026

View and vote
Entries will be displayed anonymously in a gallery on this website.
The viewing and voting period will open on Mon 26th Oct.
We invite all Somerset & Bristol BC branch members to view the entries and place a vote.
The voting period will close at 9pm on Sunday 1st November.
Finalists
The photos with the most votes will be displayed as finalists at the Members' meeting on Saturday 7th November 2026.
Those attending the Members' day meeting at Draycott Memorial Hall will vote for the overall winner.
Winner
The overall winning photo will be announced at the meeting and the winning photographer will receive a prize.
The winner & finalists photographs will be published in The Arion (branch magazine).
How to submit an entry
Each branch member may enter one photo per category
- Entries should be submitted by email by midnight on Friday 23rd October 2026
- Please submit your entry by sending an email to: events@somersetbutterflies.org.uk
- Please attach photos to your email
- Images to be sent as jpg or png format
- Photos will be displayed using the website gallery in a landscape format of fixed size
- Examples of how different sizes will be displayed are shown below
Please include the following details in your email:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Confirmation that you are a Somerset & Bristol BC Branch member
- Confirmation that each photo was taken in 2026
- For each photo, the species and category
Terms and Conditions
By submitting a digital photo, you agree to the image being added to the Photo Competition Gallery on the branch website.
The winner & finalists photographs will be published in The Arion (branch magazine).
The winner & finalists photographs may be used on the branch Social Media sites.
